ChannelPilotX

Price On Application

A new generation of adaptable Portable Pilot Unit, designed to meet the demands of modern pilotage.

ChannelPilot X (CPX) brings a new level of flexibility to Portable Pilot Units. Compact, lightweight and engineered for real-world operations, CPX can operate across three different modes — Autonomous, Supported and Dependent — allowing pilots to select the level of independence and performance required for each transit.

From Pilot Plug-dependent operations to fully independent positioning and heading, CPX adapts to different vessels, manoeuvres and pilotage environments — all within one PPU.

Three modes. One PPU.

Autonomous Mode — Class A

Fully independent of ownship sensors, with an integrated AIS receiver. CPX provides accurate position, heading and rate of turn using both the Position and Heading units.

Supported Mode — Class B

Independent position and rate of turn from the Position unit, with derived and refined heading obtained from the vessel’s AIS-transmitted heading.

Dependent Mode — Class C

Position and heading are determined using vessel-supplied data via the Pilot Plug, with independent rate of turn, and derived/refined heading obtained from the Pilot Plug.

Designed to meet AMSA and AMPI Class A, B and C PPU classifications, ChannelPilot X gives maritime pilots the flexibility to adapt their PPU to the requirements of each transit.

Compact and lightweight, CPX delivers the precision and reliability maritime pilots need for safe and efficient navigation.

Engineered for today’s pilotage.

AVAILABLE FROM Q2 2027

ChannelPilot X will be commercially available from Q2 2027.

Want to experience CPX before its official release?

Applications are now open for the ChannelPilot X Demo Programme.

Demo units are expected to be available on a limited basis from December 2026. Applications will be reviewed based on operational requirements, location and demo unit availability.

Performance Features & Usability

Three Operating Modes: One PPU designed to operate across three levels of independence to suit different pilotage requirements.

1. Autonomous Mode - Class A: Fully independent of ownship sensors, with an integrated AIS receiver. CPX provides accurate position, heading and rate of turn using both the Position and Heading units.

2. Supported Mode - Class B: Independent position and rate of turn from the Position unit, with derived and refined heading obtained from the vessel's AIS-transmitted heading.

3. Dependent Mode - Class C: Position and heading are determined using vessel-supplied data via the Pilot Plug, with independent rate of turn, and derived/refined heading obtained from the Pilot Plug.

Jamming & Spoofing Protection: Detects GNSS jamming and spoofing threats, with automatic filtering to mitigate jamming and interference. Supports Galileo OSNMA authentication to provide additional protection against spoofing attacks.

Accurate: High-accuracy GNSS positioning and heading provide accurate and stable navigation data for a real-time representation of the vessel on screen.
Easy & Fast to set up : Compact and lightweight, with an integrated mounting system designed for easy installation and removal from the vessel’s hand rail.

Flexible Mounting: Designed for secure installation on round and flat rails using straps, rubber grips and integrated magnets.

Wireless Connectivity: Wirelessly transmits GNSS position, heading and rate of turn information to the pilot’s display device, including iPad and Windows tablet.

Integrated AIS: Integrated AIS receiver for independent reception of AIS information.

Multi-Connect Ability: Wi-Fi / Cellular connectivity. Can connect to multiple devices simultaneously to enable sharing of information.

GNSS Corrections: Receives SBAS corrections (where available), NTRIP RTK, Galileo HAS.

Pitch, Roll & Heave : Option available for highly accurate data on pitch, roll, and heave.
