In 2022, the ACP announced the Advisory to Shipping No. A-32-2022. This Advisory stated ‘Effective January 1, 2024, all vessels with a beam of 109 feet (33.22 meters) or more transiting the Panama Canal will be required to have a fixed (non-portable) piloting unit with Real Time Kinematics (RTK).’

The Situation: ConocoPhillips operates an FSO at the Bayu Undan field in the East Timor Sea, approximately 250nm NW of Darwin in Australia.
