We’re proud to have supported the recent PPU Upcycling and MPX Development initiative in Samoa, led by John Barker from the Port of Auckland.

With the Samoa Ports Authority, the Pacific Pilot Training Group team has delivered a powerful mix of local capacity building and technical upgrades—repurposing equipment, refining pilotage processes, and improving navigational safety through smarter tools and better training.

Navicom Dynamics refurbished two full PPU systems (Channel Pilot + Qastor 3.16 + tablet), contributed an AIS aerial for the new Vessel Information System, and donated access to our full Azimuth online training course to help upskill the SPA pilot team. A huge thanks to David Hedgley for leading the training effort.

It’s been a true collaborative project alongside Port of Auckland, Marshland’s Consulting (QPS), OMC International, Samoa Ports Authority and Navicom Dynamics.

From pilotage route development to AIS visibility and training, this initiative is a great example of what can be achieved when practical support and regional cooperation come together.
